Intro?

So... I could dedicate my first blog post to giving some introduction of who I am, but there are a thousand ways to do that! How do I pick just one?! I could kick it off with a funny story from this past week to make you laugh while learning a bit about my awkwardness. I could pour words on this page about the people in my life who have shaped me into the person I am today, like my friends and family I am inexpressibly thankful for. Heck, I could even just slap some "Get to Know Me" facts on this page so that you know what you are getting into in this blog... OR, I can just forget the intro all together, because this is my blog and, let's face it, intros are difficult to write, and just end up spoiling everything else you are about to read (And may I mention that you sort of got a hint of where this blog was going on my blog description? So read on!)! To be fair, maybe I should just spend some time introducing myself on this first post... I mean, who wants to read about someone they do not know?

Here is a picture of my life: Imagine you are nineteen years old, married at the ripe ol' age of eighteen to a navy diver! Much like Dorothy, you feel you have been taken up into a whirlwind, out of your home and land in a completely different world! For me, this was moving from Pennsylvania (straight out of high school) and into not-so-nice Connecticut. Do not get me wrong, there ARE nice people here, but there are also a lot more creepy people in the area, and NO ONE likes to smile or say "hi" in the grocery store! Plus, did I mention my hubs was in the Navy? Aw, yes. This means my new world is in military life. Very different from what I grew up in!

Speaking of what I grew up in, I can tell you about that too. Alright, another picture to put your feet in my shoes: you grew up in Wisconsin with your Mom, Dad, and three crazy siblings. When you turrn twelve, the family moves to Pennsyl-freakin'-vania due to your Dad's job. You heard me, Pennsyl-FREAKIN'-vania! These were originally my Mom's words, not mine! Why? Well, being in my shoes, you would see that Pennsylvania was very different from Wisconsin. Where Wisconsin roads are smooth and flat, Pennsylvania roads are mountainous and riddled with potholes (or should I say "craters"?) that can flatten your tire from just ONE hit. While Wisconsin drivers mostly obey traffic laws, Pennsylvania drivers look like there is no such thing as "laws", but instead, speed limits, traffic lights, and yield signs, are all up for one's own interpretation. Okay, clearly you can see that the most frustrating aspect of the state is the driving. We still have met the most wonderful people in PA and became members of a wonderful church. I will not go too much further, since I am sure you will learn more about my family individually in further posts.

Am I boring you yet?

Okay, so remember that hubby I mentioned? Yeah, he is pretty darn important for why I am here today!!! My dude, Alex, is pretty awesome. I feel I should introduce him in this introduction as well, but I am not going to give you the story of how we met! That must wait for, yes, another post! I will put it this way, he transformed my life into something I never imagined it would be over two years ago, and I am thankful for it. We both face the horrible stage of "ADULTING" together, and we both sort of suck at it... TOGETHER! But even though we suck at it 90% of the time, I would not want to be doing it with anyone else. ;-)

Yes.... I know... introductions are boring! I warned you. But you pushed through and read till the end of the post. For that I am proud of you. I promise, if you push on, you will not regret reading more of my butchered posts in the future. I am an amateur writer, but I have a lot of stories to tell. Most of my life lessons will be written as "Do NOT Do This", which is still just as valuable as a "Do THIS" sort of life lesson. Unfortunately, many of life's lessons are learned the hard way... Kind of like how you learn when you are supposed to thaw meat by NOT thawing it till dinner time, and then you try to cook your frozen meat anyway. It is kind of like when you learn to know who you are talking to before you talk to them by accidentally sticking your head out of the window and yelling like a crazy person at someone you THOUGHT was your friend... and then they turn around... and it was NOT your friend. What? NO, that totally did NOT happen to me... at least a handful of times in my life.

How about I get to the point of, perhaps, WHY my blog is called "Grace Living in Grace". Firstly, the title "Living in Grace" was taken. Not very surprising. So I had to really dig into my creative thoughts DEEP DOWN in my brain to come up with throwing my name, Grace, in front of my previous title idea. WOW. Mind blown. This leads to my second reason for the title: you are reading a blog about a girl named Grace who is constantly living in God's amazing grace everyday. If it was not for His grace, THIS Grace (me... confusing, I know) would not be able to make it in life for another minute. I am saved by an awesome King of Kings and I live my life to express my eternal thankfulness for it.

So now you get the point. I know you are feeling the anticipation for the next post, so sit tight and brace yourself for future posts!

-Grace B.

Inconsistencies

(Enjoy my quick blurb of thought/appreciation post.) ;-)         Inconsistent.       This is the random word I was thinking of this morning in how it relates to life. Life is indeed pretty darn inconsistent! There are plenty of rather sucky inconsistencies that have occurred recently. I go from working at one place and loving it to finding it not-so-great anymore and taking up a different side gig instead. My first two courses in college made me feel optimistic and achieved to the next two courses frying my brain and making me question my life decisions each morning. There are fun plans for the weekend that get soiled by SOMEONE having to do a last-minute dive Saturday morning... just to find out that the dive might be canceled, to find out there is another dive Sunday, to then find out THAT dive is canceled. Yeah, I am especially annoyed with Alex's inconsistent work schedule. But that is the transcending theme, isn't it? INCONS...

Little Moments Matter!

My reflection on this morning... Plopped in my small, cushy living room chair, with a hot cup of coffee that I over-creamed and a Bible on my lap, I am studying the passage of 1 John 4:10-21; my eyes brush across the words of verse 16, "So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him." At this time, my train of thought is brought to halt when I hear the obnoxious squeaking of Blue's ball. I glance over to see Alex laying on the couch, squeaking away while Blue is going nuts trying to attain the ball from Alex... "Alex! Would you be quiet ?!" I snap, my eyes glowering, "I am trying to read my Bible !" Without a word, Alex takes my attitude, quite accustomed to it. He resumes playing with Blue just a little quieter.  However, I am struck- dumbfounded at what I just did. I read the verse once again, but this time it felt as if Scripture was thrown...

Content vs Compare: Plus Bonus Holiday Blurb

Yes, it is a weird title. I honestly could not come up with a better one because my train of thought is not pretty and consistent enough in this post to deserve a better title. Oh well! Read on. Sometimes, the things I do by second-nature are some nasty habits and I do not even realize it!  For example, the first thing I do in the morning- scratch that- The SECOND thing I do in the morning, as I make a cup of coffee first: I check all my phone notifications, scroll through Instagram and Facebook and sneak in a few random videos on my feed. Am I the only one who does this? I seriously doubt it. I also imagine you have heard about this habit before, how this might actually be a bad habit. Perhaps you have heard that this starts the day unproductively, or it causes you to stress out immediately (work notifications, tension over a text conversation, etc.). I think those points can be true. However, in my case, I find myself getting jealous of what I see on my feed! Why does ever...
